#SheCanBe, ensuring equality of opportunity for young women in the City.

On Tuesday 13th February more than 150 girls and young women (15 to 18 years old) from different backgrounds, from across the UK, joined forces with 30 City organisations. Together they are seeking to change the future and ensure equality of opportunity for young women in the City.

Studies have found that return on equity increases by 66% when there are 2 or more women on a company’s board of directors. McKinsey also shows that $12 million can be added to global GDP if we can reach gender parity.

The facts speak for themselves, but this is not the main reason why everis is a proud participant of ‘She Can Be’. At everis, we are committed to gender and racial equality and we want to better understand what we can do to remove barriers and engage with young women.

As one of the 30 organisations, everis opened its office doors to 11 young women to meet Real Models in a wide variety of City roles. Our everis models explained more about everis and their different roles within the company – demonstrating that a career in the City is a reality for everyone.

After a fun and informative morning session, we went off to Mansion House to meet the other young women and business leader. The afternoon consisted of discussions and presentations and culminated in making a pledge to continue future actions to carry on the great work of She Can Be. A pledge that we took wholeheartedly, and we are already working on new initiatives to ensure we keep the driving towards a more equal (City) world.
